The congregation is made up of all sorts of people from the local community. We meet to worship God, to share fellowship, and to try to live out God’s mission in the world. We try to get involved in what’s happening in our own area, and we also support international charities such as Christian Aid.
We are a fairly new URC, having formerly been an LEP (local ecumenical partnership) with a local Anglican church (see History ).
We also have a new minister since November 2019, Rev Naomi Young-Rodas, who is also the minister of Christ Church, Rayleigh URC , so we do not see her every week. Our other services are taken by local lay-preachers.
The Minister is supported by a team of Elders elected by the congregation.
We are taking the whole of 2020 to review our church life and activities to see how we can best serve God, our members and our local community, so watch this space for updates on where we are in that process. This process has been suspended due to the Coronavirus shutdown. Please read our weekly News and Chat page to keep up with what we are doing.
We are a small congregation of about 20-25. Most of our members are retired but we have some younger members and some children who attend. We have an All Age Service on the 1st Sunday of the month with children from the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Pilots who have week-day sessions at the church (view here) We also have Bible Study with breakfast, film afternoons, a toddler group, and a community coffee morning every week Click here to see our Regular Activities
